My application is active in DODEA's system and I have veteran status- any ideas when hiring will start for CONUS applicants once the transfers get settled?
Quick question... I've applied with dodea and on the question regarding what city I'd like to interview in, I selected phone interview because the closest option listed is 3-4 hours away. Should that matter? Is it better for me to make the drive? Thanks!
hahaWith DoDEA overseas schools interviews are always by telephone. Did you (the OP) apply for stateside or overseas? In general I don't think that it really matters whether you interview face to face or in person since most admin types will be used to interviewing prospective candidates by phone.
hahaAlthough DoDEA shares some of the same letters with the DOE, we are not actually a part of the Dept. of Education. We are under the Dept. of Defense which he supposedly likes.
Ugh site wont let me reply..... Any idea on how we find out the movement in the transfer round? I'm assuming lots of Pacific to Europe. I was looking specifically at some SPED combos in Europe that are in my area of experiences and qualifications (0423/0426 combo, 0420/0423/0429
Your locations receive the higher priority. For example, if you listed England, Germany, and Japan and categories 210, 310 and 320, your application would be considered in the follow order: England - 210, 310, 320 Germany - 210, 310, 320 Japan - 210, 310, 320
So if you listed only elementary categories and/or LIMM categories then those would get a higher priority.
Usually a referral list is generated by a principal pulling a list of qualified applicants from the EAS system. They will then interview 3-5 from that list. In the past a referral list could be generated by HR and they would forward the list to the principal but not sure if that happens still. In any case, getting a referral notice generally means that you have a chance at being contacted for an interview (although I have heard of people being contacted for an interview that never received a referral notice so it's not an exact science by any means).
"The transfer round has been completed. There were 143 transfer placements made for non-excessed employees. Of those, 136 were from Group A+ and seven from Group A. Forty three excessed educators were placed, leaving 10 excessed educators who still need placements.
We have been told by management that transfer notifications may start going out as early as today (February 8), thought it is uncertain how long it will take for all transfer notices to be sent out.
Per our agreement with DoDEA governing the transfer program, FEA is not able to release any details about individual transfer placements until all notifications have been sent out."
The transfer round doesn't affect stateside hiring directly but principals will not begin looking at/hiring for fall openings until the dust clears from the transfer round. Also, the openings created by transfers are often very similar to the positions that are filled in the summer recruitment period (May to August).
Impossible to rate the odds of getting an interview. Stateside jobs are somewhat easier to get then overseas so you have that going for you. Double check you app, make sure everything is current, that you are showing available for the right school year, that you re-uploaded all of your transcripts and documents etc,
for the quals - the freeze is likely slowing it down. they will check a single time. if for any reason you need to have your quals re-checked (ie- missing transcript), it will is in re-check status until you get put on a referral list. this exact thing happened to me - i was missing the official transcript, re-uploaded them and waited 6 months. i was never moved to qualified, but stayed in re-check status. i then received a call from a principal, was hired and my quals were rechecked that same day.
my unofficial understanding is so long as your quals are at least pending, they will show up when principals search for candidates.
As for HR, they can and often do take months to evaluate your transcripts. If it's been longer than that I would pick up the phone and try to talk to someone. Being a squeaky wheel can sometimes pay off.
Has anyone received the annual notice to go online to update their DODEA job application? Just curious as I've not gotten mine and they normally come out every January. Also noticed that the site where the application is located has been down all weekend, or is this just a glitch?
Is it possible not all positions will be filled in the transfer round? I read on the FEA page that the money allocated will fund roughly 140 transfers. I believe the list of vacancies was bigger than 140. Will there be access to a list of unfilled/backfill vacancies when the round is over?
happyteacherGotcha, makes sense. There was a EI/LIMS and PreSchool Disabled/EI combo I was curious about. ANother was a sped combo with Speech and a SPED combo with I think HI. I wonder if those numbers will change?
