how will the transfer round impact me if i've just been hired 2 months ago? Will I lose my position to someone transferring into my district? thank you for the responses.

You're fine. The transfer round is only for firm projected openings for the fall. Presuming that you are already hired then your position is filled, not open.

I'm not a veteran but from the experiences of my colleagues it seems like having veteran preference generally gives a slight advantage in hiring. Principals are supposed to hire veteran candidates if all candidates are otherwise equal but candidates are rarely completely equal and it seems fairly easy for them to get around this if they really want...See More

From what i've heard it also depends on certifications. Many schools use local hires for elementary teachers since it is a common certification, meaning most elementary general education positions do not go CONUS with the exception of some openings in the Pacific. PS. The only shortage area I have seen recently was when a school attempted to hire a VI/LIMM combo and there was only one qualified person in the system and they turned down the job (so it went unfilled).

It does vary wildly from location to location obviously. But in general if someone is open to many possibilities (e.g. supply person, working at the Bowling Alley, commissary, subbing, teaching English, etc)) and really commits to it they will find something which can eventually turn into something meaningful, managerial, etc.

No. Probably something that sounded tough during the election but that he has no intention of actually doing (like lock her up). Even if he did really want to, I don't see Congress actually doing it.
