Greetings! I'm in the process of formatting my evidence for my PGEs in Component 1. Am I allowed to use several pieces of evidence on a single page? For example, if I want to include 3 different certificates, may I shrink them to fit the page?

It says items should be original size...it seems like it would make sense to shrink certificates because there's little 'content' on them, but I don't think that's allowed.
Component 1 scores:
...See MoreThanks in advance for looking at this. I'm not sure I'm going to make it. It's been a REALLY tough year (details omitted for brevity), but it was year 3 for me, so here I am. If I submit and I don't have enough for the thing to even be scorable, is that going to make it impossible to pass if I retake next year?
You have decent scores on component 2 and the writing process was much easier for me this time. I did component 1 and 2 previously like you, and I am writing furiously on component 3 and 4 now. It isn't as hard and component 4 is a lot of forms and then so many questions that it is easy to fill up the page. Use voice to text on your word processing program - really easy to do if you have a MAC. You can make it!! Get something in so you can revise next year!

Question when doing General Ed. early literacy: comp. 2..do you talk about 1 student at a time or can you talk about both students. When talking about the sample how do we reference it. What are the National board words we suppose to be using...Help
Not sure what I'm suppose to put on form. Do I add students work (although there is a place for student response), do I add lesson plan, the story the students read, the writing paper, the students work with corrections and comments? Not sure and only 3 pages maximum.

I am stuck on where the actual quantified results go. Are they documented throughout the response to this prompt or/and organized and attached in the 2 pages additional...
I would also like to know if we need to keep the space between the prompt and our response? Can we begin our response directly after their question mark?
According to the directions, you need to write between the brackets. It also says DO NOT ALTER the form/text/headers in any way. So if writing after the question mark fits within their directions, you can do it.
Does anyone have resources that they are using for this test? It covers so much, that I'm panicking over all the information I need to know. Are there any practice tests or past tests that are released? I'm looking at praxis-type questions to practice. The sample questions on NB doesn't help that much.
Does NB require parenthetical citations in any of the responses? I am not seeing anywhere where this is a requirement. I am not starting until the 17-18 school year but wanted to get some basic questions resolved this school year first.

My student need was to change the assessment format for our unit exams. Students did not perform well on the multiple choice portion of the unit exams, but could write out all the answers on blank paper for the same questions when I asked them the questions.
I was wondering if my professional development could be tied to the research required to find the alternative testing method we are know using?

...See MoreI used 3 different self-assessments that related to other objectives in the unit. I teach preschool special education and developed a formative assessment for color identification, and showed the self-assessments I used in different areas of the unit because the formative assessment didn't relate to something the student could self-assess.
I think as long as you write it up in the written commentary reflectively it is fine to have different self-assessments. I figured they did not want to see the same self-assessment three times, but depending on what you teach maybe that would look very different with different students. For me it would have looked very similar.
We are so close to submitting I can't wait to be done!! Good luck!

I am EC Gen. Our Comp 4 states under "How to Format and Submit Your Assessment Materials" Include examples of 3 children's use of self-assessment. I am assuming it means one self-assessment, 3 different students.
Can anyone give me clarification on the the question document? I am unclear what they are asking for. Written commentary asks "What question have you formulated related to your work with this student?" Then asks for you to submit a question document... I'm confused.

Without looking at the component I think I remember that the question document was the evidence and discussion that led you to your question.
There is a yahoo group for exceptional needs specialist. I will give you the link below. It is really helpful as a lot of our stuff is slightly different.
Last year, when I wrote Comp 2 (and got a 4.0 on it), I followed the advice of an NBCT who is a moderator of the group. She said ONLY PUT YOUR QUESTION on one page in the question document. You have 6 pages total for the question document and the assessment tool. Use the other 5 pages for the assessment tool.
Here is the question and answer to a similar question last year: Correct. The rubric for scoring is applied to the 13 pages only. You are not scored on the other pages so make sure you write exactly what you need for scoring within those 13 pages. Best wishes, jani

Show message history Hi. I'm looking at Component 2 Electronic Submission at a Glance and want to be clear on QuestionDocument and Assessment Tool Document. It's a total of 6 pages and in it I include the actual assessment tool, plus student work and/or conversation with family and/or observational data that led me to formulating my question?
So it's 1 page contextual sheet, 13 pages of written commentary and then 6 pages of above? Total 19 pages for Component 2?
