My directions state: work samples must be from the same two students, responding to the same three activities that you are featuring in this entry. Do they questions they respond to have to be exactly the same? Can I use two different versions based on ability or interest of students?
Hello! I've been trying to find other teachers in my cert area that will completing component 1 this year. Is there anyone on this site studying in this area? Or could someone guide me to a help site where I could talk with other Health educators?
I think you're in a certificate area with a very small number of candidates. I hope you find someone, but until you do, please post your questions here.
There are also some FB pages for teachers in any certificate area. If you do FB, type National Board Certification in the search bar and several should pop up. Maybe you'll find more help there. Good Luck!

I think I am going to focus on Writing/Reading standards while using the movie "Roots" I have created some formal assessments, discussions, persuasive writing essays, and am working on some reflection pieces for when they write their persuasive essays....this will be the main focus for my unit.

How nice that you want to help your friend. I will give you the names of a few places she might look, but I do want to caution her to be VERY CAREFUL who she shares with. We don't want to think that teachers would ever cheat or steal, but it has happened.
If she shared with someone who then used part of her work - and it was discovered - even if your friend had no idea her work was plagiarized, BOTH candidates could be disqualified. And just let me say that the NB has their ways of finding submissions that are too much alike. So I want to make that point.
That said, besides this site, here are some others: [link removed]
There are also several FB pages that are active if your friend is on FB. There is one for World Language Teachers and one for English Teachers. There are also several for any certificate area. She should type in NBCT or NBPTS in the search bar and several should come up.
Hope that helps!

However, the NB doesn't provide any other samples. As much as candidates want them, in reality, they would be very limiting. Candidates would try to replicate the samples, which wouldn't accurately represent THEIR own practice.
What it looks like in the end is a __ page paper (# of pages depends on which Component) that is a series of responses to the prompts given in each Component. That's the bulk of what's submitted. Then you also submit the Forms, student work samples, assessments etc. These are all listed both within the instructions AND in the Electronic Submisision at a Glance page.
It's understandable to want to see samples - every candidate does - but don't waste precious time. Dig into the prompts, plan, collect, and get started writing. It may sound too simple to say - Just answer the prompts - but really, that's the bottom line.

So, my coworker and I are both working on National Boards. I know that for Component 3 we need to do 2 units in either Science, Math, or Social Studies. These can be whole group or small group. She said that our units need to combine two out of the three content areas. Is this true? I was going to do a science unit and a math unit. Please help! :o(
From what i read, I thought we can do any two of the whole class, small group or 1-1. Also, for the content, I think one math and one science is fine. Can you ask your coworker where she got the combine unit information from?
