Got scores C1, 3.0, 2.875, 2.5, 3.294, Avg 2.917; C2, 3.0; C3, 2.125. Using score calculator means I need 3.125 on C4 to have 2.75. Should I redo C3??? Help!

Disclaimer: This is according to the weights in the NB scoring guide. How they actually tally the final score we don't know yet.
Component 1 SRI Score x.20 Component 1 Exercises Avg x.20 (add your three scores and divide by 3 to the Exercises Avg) Component 2 Score x.15 Component 3 Score x.30
Add all four results to get your "banked" current total without Component 4. To see what you need on Component 4 to get 2.75:
2.75 minus your current total from above Take that number and divide by .15
Example with my scores:
1 SRI: 3.506 x .20 = .7012 1 Exercises: (3.0, 2.75, 4.0 average to 3.35) 3.25 x .20 = .65 2: 3.0 x .15 = .45 3: 3.0 x .30 = 0.9 Total w/o Comp 4 = .7012+.65+.45+.9 = 2.7012
2.75 - 2.7012 = .0488 .0488/.15 = 0.325 needed on Component 4 to get 2.75

Does that make sense ...See MoreI dug out my wife's old national board scores from the previous process and they needed 275 points but this was out of 425 possible points. They could get up to 4.25 on each part. This works out to be 64.7&37;. If they keep that percentage similar, it means your weighted avg should be 2.6 to pass (speculatively).
Does that make sense if they do keep a similar standard or am I missing something?

Thank you for taking the time to respond :) I've had some time to reflect and I'm starting to feel a little better. This has not been a very pleasant experience. I'm AYA math - I'll take C1 and C4 this year...hoping for the best. Good luck!
I'm getting ready to finish up my component 2 and then move on to the remaining 2 components in the spring to get them completed by this assessment year's deadline.
My question is, do a 3.06 seem like a pretty good score for component 1 and should I consider retaking or just move on to the next components for now?
That sounds like a pretty solid score to me. If I were you, I'd lean toward continuing forward to focusing your energy on the reamining components. Of course, all of this is conjecture until cut scores are finally known next year, but a 3.06 strikes me as being pretty comfortable.
You are correct. That unweighted average is for the test center average (greater than 1.75) requirement. You should see "Yes" in that box since you surpassed that. Congrats!
The weighted average is the box talking about the minimum passing score (determined in 2017). It should say N/A since you don't have all your score yet for all components. When calculating that weighted score, 20&37; will be SRI and 20&37; constructed (and 60&37; portfolio).
Hope that helps! We all had the same question last year

Awesome. That works out better for me and leaves me needing only a 2 on component 4 if they keep the score required similar. Little breathing room. Thanks so much for your help this morning. Time to get on to the last component!

I'd go for it. Assuming we're looking at a 2.75 cutoff, you're right there & could get it all done & certify this coming year. Worst case scenario you end up being barely under & could pick one thing to redo.

Thanks all! It's so stressful! I just worry I'll do worse, but you're right. I'm going to go for it this time.
I scored the same as you on C1 and C2. I plan to do C3 and C4 this year. Greater weight is given to C1 and C3, so if I do retake anything, it will be portions of C1. But I plan to wait until cut scores are out next year before I put any money into retakes. My certification is ELA EA
I know that we are not permitted to stop or edit the recording (unless there is a fire alarm, passing out papers, etc.) but can we edit the sound quality? You can hear me just fine, but my students are timid and quiet. Are we permitted to raise the volume when students talk and lower it when I talk?
