According to the United States Department of Education Institute for Educational Sciences (IES What Works Clearinghouse, August 2010), "Accelerated Reader™ was found to have no discernible effects on reading fluency or comprehension for adolescent learners." A Parent Wow, very nice post !! If the teachers would open their eyes and ears and listen to what some parents (those that take the time to learn about what their child is doing at school as well as learning about the programs that are used)have to say about AR and how it is run in SOME schools, maybe some children could benefit from improving the process. ...See More

*roll eyes* Well, it seems like teachers SHOULD have a right to be on a TEACHERS board to discuss TEACHER things without PARENTS butting in and telling us how to do our jobs.

A Parent It seems that if TEACHERS are truely interested in TEACHING and if it's all about the kids, then why shouldn't they LISTEN to the Parents?

Then again , they don't listen to renlearn's recommendations on how to run the AR program, so why would the teachers listen to the parents?
