I am in a huge mess. I did business with first financial credit union in southern ca. I received an auto loan. They normally offer summer skips for educators. They are now trying to say this was a figment of my imagination. After five years of paying on my auto loan they are now claiming breach of contract. If anyone out there has ever had summer skips with this credit union please email me to that effect. I paid 545 monthly on a 25,000 loan and they are now suing for 20,000. They want to try to repo this week. I just need anyone who has ever had summer skips to reply. This makes no sense to me. I did not keep bank statements etc. I thought I would simply just be done paying. (dumb) I know. Hope someone can help. thanks

The credit union I bank at in N.C. does do summer skips for teachers. The contract I have with them for my auto states that they will skip payments during the months of June and July. If you have your contract it should tell you whether or not you have summer skipping. Also, your bank should be able to give you a copy of statements you threw away, as well as your cancelled checks. Good Luck!

Dear Chloe:
I know it has been a while since you posted your ad. But I could not think of a better way to learn and/or maintain your French skills than this French By Phone program. Check it out at : FrenchLessonsbyphone.com

I suggest you start with your local board of education. They probably have an adult education division and if not, they will direct you to where you need to go. I teach adult education with a K-8 certificate. I have taught GED and pre GED English and Social Studies. The students are first tested to see if they need the pre-GED (grade level under 8th) or GED classes. Also I have taught English as a second language as part of the adult education program.
Also, there are many literacy programs that use teachers for reading. Again, start with your Board of Education. Hope this answers some of your questions.
I have a friend who wants to teach ESL abroad. He has a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and 15 years of experience as an English professor at a private university. He does NOT have any certification that is specifically for ESL. Are there jobs that would be available to him with the credentials he has now?
Hi Joanie! I teach ESL in Cleveland and I taught abroad too and am always looking at the job boards. I think your friend's best bet (this is from what I've gleaned from colleagues in the field as well) would be South Korea. Right now they pay well and they want native speakers of English from the USA.
Most of the other jobs in Europe want teachers from the EU rather than the USA... The Middle East is good (if your friend is a man)...Kuwait or better yet, the UAE. They are requiring teachers with Masters or higher. (I taught in Abu Dhabi for a while and it was great...but difficult being a woman).
Hi, David! I'll help you to improve your English thru the Internet with great pleasure! My first question is: what is your level:basic, intermediate or higher? Thank you. I hope to hear from you soon.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in online lessons. I offer one-to-one classes via the internet, with significant reductions for pair and group classes.
Kind regards Gareth Butt
