Defense of Homeschooling - part 2

Unlike many other homeschoolers, I do not knock P.S.
teachers at all. I most definitely believe that teachers
are overworked and underpaid. Teachers have multiple hats
to wear (teachers, counselors, surrogate parents, pseudo-
clergy, etc) that I strongly suspect impacts the amount of
teaching time that they actually have as well as the
quality of teaching that can be performed. And whom are
teachers paid to teach? A classroom with 20+ kids, not all
of whom are behaved and respectful! I wouldn’t hesitate to
jack the average teacher’s salary up a good notch, say
$40,000 to start and at least $60,000 at retirement for the
competent senior teachers.
I didn’t have a good experience in either my public or
parochial schools but I must admit that some of my negative
