I did another one first. That played well on my PC, then wouldn't! I deleted and reloaded the music. Now when I go to play it (on PC) the slides advance--sometimes, but the music won't play--at all! Do I just need to start all over again with downloading the ppt and music?
I figure this is more beneficial than playing solitaire! But much more frustrating, I'm finding!!
AJHDo you have iWork on your MacBook? If so, you should be able to open the PowerPoint with Keynote (which is part of iWork). There may be some font changes, but usually it will open

There is a new online magazine created specifically for educators who use Macs! It has great ideas, lesson plans, templates, and more all using Apple products. This is perfect for the computer teacher, classroom teacher, or administrators who want to encourage technology use in their Mac school. [link removed]
Who can tell me about X factor Academy of Reading and Math software? Does anyone use this in their school and what level student do you feel it serves? Any shortcomings of the software?
I am a retired Special Educator. As a teacher I used the program in several different situations. It is wonderful if used right. With severely emotionally disturbed (middle school age) I saw more than a two year average growth in my students, with nearly as great gains the second year. In three years I closed the gap for 1/3 of my kids. I am not sure what X factor" refers to but if you goout to Autoskills.com you can learn more...or connect with me. Where are you? perhaps i can put you in touch with a local user. AlyB

Keep It SimpleKeychain password pops up while teachers are online. I am school Tech coordinator. We have just become a MAC school. I realize that I am able to go into the utilities, and KEYCHAIN folder, but a few teachers are still unable to turn keychain password popup from showing up.

I am looking for some ideas that are mac compatible for a high school geography classroom. I am getting a new room and want to "shoot for the moon" with requests for hardware and software technology, but don't know where to start

I would think an obvious choice for your classroom would be a visual prenenter or documents camera( often incorrectly referred to by the brand name of Elmo).
There is an excellent article on choosing a visual presenter at the website of one of the better manufacters, Dukane on their website : [link removed]
I should know it is good---I wrote it.
But serioulsy, a document camera would allow you to project pictures from a book or a map instantly, without having to scan them in
This would also require a data-video projector, but such a camera can be used with a Big TV...and prices are LCD TVs are coming down . There are still analong cameras ( that plug into the display device) but the price of the digital ones have come down and input directly into your computer( including Mac)
Another great resource for a geography teacher that instantly comes to mind is [link removed].
Another "hot tip: is to "google for Powerpoints"
Simple go to google and type "High school Geography and .ppt" ...You will get lots of results and all of these are Powerpoints somone has posted and WANTS to share. Narrow your search and you will get more focused results . for example " World war II and maps .ppt" will find powerpoints about maps of world war II.
There was, many years ago from the "Dummies People, IDG a book called Macs for teachers. That is long out of date, but if you dont already know about his books , go to [link removed].
Another solution I tout is screen goo. [link removed]
It is a special coating that turns any paintable surface( like a wall, into a HIGH quality projection screen. You can get enough Screen goo for $150 to paint a 10x10 wall.
So, instead of your kinds squinting to see a map on the typical 5x5 or 6x6 screen I seee in many classrooms. you will have a great( if you have an avaiable wall) screen with amazing colors.
Add a wirless tablet ( like CPS Chalkboard or Interwrite Tablet) and you have "an intelligent wall instead of a smart board..at a fraciton of the price and at a size that the kids siting in the back can see somehting.
Dont have a blank wall,.....go buy a buy sheet of Plywood or even particalbe board..Paint it and make your own stand for it.
Projectors are mac and PC compatiable. However, Mac sure you "max out" the VRAM on the video card of your mac , whehter a laptop or desktop. THe qualiyt of hte video cards is going to determine the quality of what you see. The video on My Macbook, which I bought with most VRAM possible is amazing compared to what I see on an Ibook or a the Toshiba laptop I use for school demos
I am an eInstruciton consultant. [link removed].
Hope these ideas are helpful. Bill McIntosh( yes, that is REALLY my name) [link removed]
* Ma...See MoreWebsite goals: * Make this a kid-friendly place. We’ve sifted through the good, bad and the ugly for videos about kids, by kids, or for kids.
* Make this a safe place. We are parents of small children and one of us is a credentialed teacher and we know how important it is to safeguard our little ones eyes, ears and heart.
* Make this place fun. Hearing our little ones laugh and giggle brings joy to our ears.
* Make this place educational. Video can be used in amazing ways to learn and to teach as a tool. Great for classroom downtime or resess.

I've downloaded some songs from iTunes. They'll play on my computer, but when I burn to a CD and try to play in the car or on a CD player, I get a message to "check disk".
What format should I use to download songs that will play on the computer, iPod and CD? It is currently set to WAV.
The .wav format should be fine... some older players liked something cal...See MoreNot the format it's the media. NO CD-RW!, cheap medai (gold or silver works well). Somtimes it's the record/playback speed. Use less than 12x The age of the device is often a factor in the last two problems. . . older players can't handle high speeds and cheap media.
The .wav format should be fine... some older players liked something called .CDA while some of the newer ones will even play .mp3 files.
Without a bit more information that's about all I can offer in the way of advice.

I used to just do a two column sheet with the paper set landscape, and adjust the margins. Text wraps, which is great.
