Saw a cool short cut on Tammy Worcester's page. To zoom in use Control + two fingers. It zooms in on the screen. Does anyone know how to undo that feature, or zoom back out?
JenZSome of my students accidently zoom in using their mouse on the internet. I have found if you right click on the image, a choice will be there for zoom out. Works perfectly!
I teach digital media for 11-12th. My computers are breaking down and having RAM problems. I have a few G5 imacs-non intel and several G4 imacs- They are loaded with the max of RAM. I also run the Adobe create suite programs which use tons of RAM. Any suggestions or options to salvage my lab. Or does apple offer any incentives for upgrades?

We currently have computer projectors. We assume we would love having document cameras, would want digital cameras. What other equipment would you ask for?
Programs: right now we have a PC lab with Pearson's Successmaker and Pearson's Waterford. We have Pearson's Voyager Ticket To Read online. We have Renaissance A. R. Reading and one scanner for A. R. Math for the entire grade level to share. What other programs are wonderful and we would definintely want to ask for?
Karen PondIn our K-3 computer lab we use KidPix Deluxe 3 and Inspiration. The students in grades 1-3 use both, K uses KidPix. The 3rd graders have just finished studying three different countries and have loved using KidPix to create their own slideshows.

You do not have to defrag. Granted there are many pieces of software that will help you clean up your drive and your computer (which may be necessary for some people), one great piece of software is called OnyX (Free).
One thing you can do is repair your permissions. In your Applications folder, click on the folder called Utilities. In that folder, open Disc Utility. Once you are in Disc Utility, highlight your hard drive on the left and then at the bottom click on Verify Permissions. Once that is finished, click on Repair permissions.

I have a cd stuck in the drive of my flat screen screen imac. The icon will not load onto the finder. The cd will not eject. I have tried all the commands, restarts I can think of, I think it is physically stuck. There is no pop out button or hole. How do I get the thing out?

See the number pad on your keyboard? I mean the one to your right -- not the one on top. At the very top right is a key tht you push and the CD ejects. It is the 4th key on top row and end of keybaord. It just happened to me last week and I was looking for a hole like on older computer and nothing worked. Then friend told me to do this and it worked.
I left it for a month now unplugged and not running. I tried to see if anything will happen by plugging it in and pushing the start button but all I have is a black screen. Is it dead?
If so, why doesn't iPhoto tell you how many photos you can load to a computer? Approximately . . . or give a warning? Is that why it has a black screen?
I have a hand me down laptop Apple computer also. I was the fourth owner. A little over a year ago, I sorta put it on the shelf and didn't use it because I had the desktop one going and that was sufficient for awhile while I was getting settled in my new apartment. One day I wanted to take it somewhere to use so I recharged the battery but the screen was just black. It worked the last time I used it. Why is this happening? I can hear it turn on tho.
I am glad I never got rid of any of my old computers because I am now using my 8 year old one for this. When I crashed it, they wanted almost enough to buy a new computer so I bought a new one instead of having it repaired. I eventually fiddled with it and fixed it myself -- well, so far, so good. I found many of my photos but not all. Also discovered that I had saved many of them on zip disks so am not too upset.
Please suggest how to proceed with the flat screen and laptop. In 4 more months I will have enough to buy a new computer but would rather fix the old ones if there is a way for me to do it OR if there is a possibility to do so by the shop. I will have to take it to Oregon sicne the Apple place closed here in Vancovuer that was in a store that closed down.
I kinda wanted to get laptop fixed as it has a couple programs on it I don't have available to restore since they were free when I downloaded them. Are they gone?
How long did you leave the black screen up? Seconds or minutes? In some cases I have waited 10 minutes for a Mac to boot (I wouldn't wait more than 30).
During the wait time is the power button glowing or pulsing?
Have you tried resetting the PRAM or PMU? if not follow the link below.
I left it on a short while, turned computer off again and left quite a long time. The first time, it started to show the apple logo on a gray screen and then went totally black. It is unplugged now.
I presently don't have a printer so could not print off the directions for the link you sent me to. I am using someone's PC at their apt so now can copy and print the directions of the link you sent me to. I will try that procedure and hope for good results. I will let you know asap.
Thanks for trying some suggestions. I miss my computer.
Our school is switching from writing on shovels with a burnt stick to something more modern. We will equip the school with either Smart boards or Promethian boards that both do about the same thing.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Any actual users with experience would really help too.
