I came across this site today and WOW!!! This is what I've been looking for... a safe way for my kids to explore the internet without me clicking every link...
If you want a FREE safe internet option for your classroom, computer room, etc. check out [link removed]
ps I just figure out that when I go to save a document, there is a new section on the bottom that is about compatibility. It makes the window so long that it forces it behind the tool bar. Is there a way to not show that section?
I'm...See MoreDoes anyone have, or know where I can purchase, tutorials for iMovie that have the students learn the program by working through a set of tutorials?
I want the students to actually use iMovie, not watch a video tutorial of how it works. If anyone has used Adobe's 'Classroom in a Book' series, I'm looking for something similar.
I'm a high school teacher who found out on the first day of classes that he'd be teaching a group of 6th grade students in a Video Editing class. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. THANKS!
RonHere is a link to a page of iMovie tutorials that I built it for my students. The UCLA tutorial is great, is a PDF, and is free. That one alone is enough for most students.

How are folks accessing databases now that Appleworks is out? We have several database files that we need to convert, but don't know how to do that with iWork. Any suggestions?
I don't believe iWork has a database application. I would start with NeoOffice (it's free) and see if it can open AW database files. I don't have any files to test because I never use databases so I can't confirm it it works.
There's also Filemaker and Bento but those cost money.

...See MoreThe DB will then be saved as "tab delimited text" which can be read/converted by Excel or any other DB app..
MyAppleWorks runs under 10.5.8 but I have to double-click the file not launch AW and use open
So if you change all your files on an old box or older OS you can then use all the data without re-typing.

Has anyone had experience uninstalling Lego Robotics software? The lego robotics club wants to uninstall and reinstall their software on a MacBook running leopard. I didn't see an uninstall option on the CD that came with the program. Any suggestions?
Thank you a million times. I've been trying to do this for months. I did a million google searches and checked on the MAC discussion boards. Couldn't get an answer. I can't believe I didn't post on this board first and I can't believe I never thought to just drag them.

I want to buy an external hard drive because I always have so many photos and think that is what caused my 4 year old computer to crash. One day, I will try to get that fixed so a friend can use it. . . Any suggestions as to what kind? When I was at the Apple store in Portland, OR, they showed me a large number of external hard drives. . .
Also, should I get more memory added to computer or not? I am not getting the office program that adaprs Apple documents to PC documents YET. Maybe later. It doesn't come with the computer but is an add on.
Also , what is your opinion of the latest iMac flat screen desktop computer? The mouse is not connected to computer. . . kinda different. . .
Any other advice? Any suggestions for programs I should buy. I am retired now but still use computer for many things. I hope to buy my computer Friday.

No, but you may have to enable it to run under Rosetta as its PPC, not Intel, Native. Apple-Info there's a check box for Rosetta.

NO idea, but you could drag it to the new machine if you boot your old one in target mode.
As for an external drive, any firewire or USB drive will work, get what you can afford.
I"m always for maxing out RAM - its the least expensive, best thing you can do to speed up a computer.
