I used to know how to repair macs, but they've advanced so
much I'm lost. I'm running OSX 3.9. It would NOT boot past
the grey screen so I pulled up single user (with
instructions, I don't actually know what that means) and got
the following info. Can anyone help with:
/sbin/fsck -fy
** /dev/rdisk0s5
** Root file system
** Checking HFS Plus volume
** Checking Extents Overflow file.
** Checking Catalog file.
disk0s5: I/O error.
disk0s5: I/O error.
Keys out of order (4, 1637)
**Rebuilding Catalog B-tree
disk0s5: I/O error.
** The volume could not be repaired.
I don't know what to do now. **sigh** It looks bad.
try a wipe and install - hope your important data is backed
