I would like everyone and everybody who uses technology in the art classroom to fill me in on what you do. Please tell us your ideas and accomplishments. Computer labs, iPads, etc. Please share!
Well, I teach 520 kids K-5 in 40 minute weekly class periods so there is not lots of tech time and the only computer in the room is mine. With that being said I am working with our computer lab teacher to work out a research lesson where they can locate online info regarding artists, art style / periods and influences. I use my laptop with projector for younger kids with Brainpop Jr to show brief video to reinforce concepts and give quick quiz check to assess in class. I use abbreviated power points to show artist style periods as it relates to projects we are doing in class. I also did a power point at the start of the year to cover Art Room class room procedures and expectations (thanks to Harry Wong). I use HomeworkNow.com to post requirements and info as well as ProgressBook which lists grades as parent info boards. I am in no way the poster child for tech. In fact I realize probably doing the minimum but focusing on getting meaningful lessons that connect with the kids into their hands each week. Hopefully my tech supports my efforts.

I do one similar, yet the students draw and cut out leafs from tag board of all sorts. Use them for pastel smears or rubbings. Reuse the leafs years again and again.

Ok, so my school is doing something wrong. Who should I contact to report this in NY? I feel bad for the kids. He is having people come in who are like muralists and things like that and the other teachers are just giving the kids grades for this stuff. I mean, no offense to the Math teachers but they should not be giving grades for visual art.
For the past few years, I have been using COMMAND adhesives. I use their hooks, velcro, and various hanging sticky things. I LOVE them. They are a bit expensive, but worth it. Once stuff is on the walls, it stays until you take the strips off the wall (with NO damage).
Gosh. I haven't been here for ages. However, I need your help now. I want to know how many classes you teach in a week? Tell me the good, bad, and ugly. I am struggling right now. I need to put things in perspective. HELP!
ArtmeI'm never going to complain again. I have 22 elementary classes a week ranging from 40 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on developmental level. My largest class is 23. And I have only one school and my own classroom. 34 years in.
