I am interested in purchasing the entire set of Alpha Time...Letter People that was published in the mid 1970's. I am a former kindergarten teacher whose going to open an early learning center in a couple of months for preschool children. If anyone has the entire set please contact me ([email removed]!!
for all your letter people needs, go to http://www.letterpeoplemedia.com Just wanted to let you know there is a new Letter People show on YouTube called “Letter People Land”. Might be great to add to your class
Our school switched to building blocks about 4 years ago. We love it and no longer use our letter people in any way. We have 3 sets and I am just wondering if anyone would be interested in buying them. At this time I have no idea of a price or even if our administration would let us sell them. They are just in a storeroom right now.

If anyone knows where to find the Original Letter People set from the 1974 series please contact me. I have found that it is extremely helpful when teaching pre-k and kindergarten because the children can relate to the D is for delicious donuts instead of D is for dazzling dance.
Hi! I only need 11 classrooms to complete my postcard exchange. I need a representative from IA, NH, NE, SD, AZ, HI, SC, NM, VT, MT & WY. Most of the participants are kindergartens. If you would like to join the exchange or would like more information, please email me. I am looking for ideas for the Getting to Know You activity. Since I have such a small group of kids it won't take me long to cycle through it. Does anyone have any additional ideas other than what's in the month by month book?

We use a "Good Morning" book. Each page simply says "Good morning to . . . (student's name). I make this out of construction paper and bind it with a rubber band. We go through this book each morning during the first few weeks. Then I place the book in the library and students may read it at free time.

I home school my daughter and she has just finished grade K. I want to use sing, spell, read & write for first grade. My question is do I need to start with SSR&W K-1 or start with Level 1? Do you use certain levels at different ages or does it matter? My daughter had trouble with phonics the first part of the school year. In January she started understanding it much better. Now she can sound out most words on her on. I want to start her out on the level she needs to be on. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks, Belinda

I know my response is too late for Belinda but I've had experience with SSR&W and a few other homeschool reading curricula so someone else may benefit. SSR&W Level 1 is expensive and well worth it. I did use their Kdg and started the Level 2 materials and they weren't worth my money but I'm very particular. The child above may be ready but readiness isn't determined by age. I feel SSR&W is a great reading program whether you start at 4 years or 7 years or anywhere between. Prior to SSR&W Level 1, for preschool/kindergarten, I would use something like Study Time's Activity Workbooks then Rod & Staff's A-B-C Series, both available from anabaptistbooks.com or timberdoodle.com [no affiliation] for a very reasonable price. Children are worth our time.
