Providing shapes and/or lines to practice cutting on
Making playdough
Cutting (and squishing!) bananas
Provide a box with scrap paper for children to cut while they sit IN the box!
Cave writing (suggested by meeeha!)-tape paper under a table and the children lay down and draw or write on the paper that is above them!
Shaving cream play
Dress up clothes
Housekeeping-sweeping, opening and closing containers, etc.
Cutting pasta with scissors
Pin Poking—draw shapes on construction paper. Attach to a carpet square or soft item. The children use push pins, tacs, toothpicks or other tool to poke on the lines. Anne said the kids can see the light come through their shapes if you hand them on a window!
Fine motor activities are everywhere! And the reminder was that fine motor goes from the shoulders to the fingertips to prepare the whole hand and arm for movements and activities. Fine motor activities are all around your classroom in everyday activities!

I will be "late" We have our annual art show tomorrow night from 6:30-7:30 and then we break that down and set up for the next night's program...I'm hoping to be here by 9:00, I'll do my best!
I have used the kinds that you order with different shapes for the children to hold onto and bright colors. I have used a plain old clothesline rope with notes tied along it. I much prefer the clothesline rope - easier to handle and more compact. And works just as well as the other. At least that has been my experience.
The best I can do is be profession...See MoreThanks Granny. I appreciate the input. I am most definitely looking for another position. This corporate school just isn't a place that I want to work in.
The owner/director really doesn't know what's going on and doesn't really care as long as parents aren't complaining and money is coming in.
The best I can do is be professional and do what's right for the children and for me.
I agree about the cameras but that can be expensive and most schools don't do it.

Preschool TeacherI think it really depends on the school. I currently work for a corporate/ franchise preschool and don't have those types of problems. Our school is far from perfect but I have contact with teachers from other franchised schools of the same name, and their problems are completely different. Just depends on the school
