I am thinking about becoming a trainer. After doing the research, I have found with my M.A. and 2+ years of experience that I can teach at the advanced level.

I have three questions: 1. What is a typical day like for a ECE trainer 2. Do you work freelance or through a company? Is the company government or public/private 3. What range do trainers make per session?

Schari I have never heard of a position like this, other than the "big names" that charge to come speak at meetings. I assume their work is full time.

We do have an organization called ESSDACK, whose employees do educational trainigs. Is that the kind of thing you are thinking of? Or being hired to travel and do trainings?

Val It would be either ESSDACK or travel to do trainings. CO requires 15 contact hours of training a year, and we often seek outside consultants to offer training sessions for our corp.

Schari I don't know much about what you are asking about, but a couple of things I do know - trainers/speakers often do so for no pay. I have been one of many giving sessions at all day conferences, and the only person that got paid was the keynote speaker. I have arranged some 3 hr. trainings for child care providers at ESSDACK and the cost to do so is $...See More

Donna music/TN Trainers who do the ABC Music and Me training for Kindercare/Bright Horizons are paid $50 per hour, and it's an on-call thing, where when a center in your area wants training, they call the company and the company goes down their list until they find someone who is willing to do it.
