Here is a website to look at: mrcoward.com - He owns it and builds it. Mr. Coward is a middle school teacher in Laguna, CA. Explore around in the site; he has fabulous ideas, some of which I've used in teaching high school English. Also check his guestbook for comments from other teachers. This site has been active for something like 14 years. He has extensive archives of lessons, and I used the KBAR idea for years in my class (modified a bit to high school level).
Our district is offering M i c r o so f t’s M y S i t e to all of the district teachers. Is anyone familiar with this? How does it work? Do you find it effective? Any ideas of things to do on it?

Today I got an e-mail advertising StudyBlue online flashcards, which apparently is free. What interested me was that it was free and it has mobile apps for Apple and Andriod. Before I enter and create an account, I would like to get feedback about it. (I still haven’t invested time into doing some kind of online flashcards yet, although our textbook series has electronic flashcards online via the textbook website, with audio soundbytes.)
Thanks for any input you can provide me! Daniel Hanson Public High School Spanish Teacher Atwater, California, USA

At what age is it appropriate for the teacher to use a classroom website to help run the class? Many young students are as 'tech-savy' as the teachers are so is it asking too much from them to complete homework using an internet link on a class website or using the site for extra practice before a test?

If they are tech-savvy enough to use it, then more power to your classroom.. if not, then it is still something that their parents can use as a reference to things going on in the class!

CarlMy school gives web access to 2-3 year olds. Any age is appropriate if its DAP and within their ZPD! Think iconic representation, image symbols etc
