A few years ago, our school started grade band weekly collaborative planning meetings. Each week, the P-2, 3-4, and 5-6 teachers meet (three separate meetings.) Special ed teachers go to these meetings or their own separate meetings as deemed necessary (by them.) Meetings are on different days so that the principal may attend all meetings (or none, depending on the week.) As a teacher on the lower end of the band (P), I love these meetings. It is eye opening to see how what I am doing affects children as they go to higher grades. It helps me to determine what is most important and what is not as essential. I am curious, though: do teachers at the top of the band (for example, the 2nd grade teachers) feel that these are as beneficial as those on the lower end of the band?

judy5ca What a great idea! Lucky you! I would love to know more about exactly what kids are doing before and after our time together. That would help enormously in planning the perfect delivery of each lesson, wouldn't it? Judy
