I'm trying to find a lesson plan I found on a South Dakota school website. It was done by middle schoolers, choosing who they would put on Mt. Rushmore. I can't remember the school. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

It was on a pdf with the SD reading site. Don't think this is exactly what you are looking for.

Need your advice. What is a good FREE website builder to use. I had been with geocites and it shut down. I had also been paying a small fee. I want a user friendly one that does not have alot of advertisements. What do you use and what are your favorites? THANKS!
I am teaching a keyboarding/computer class for 6 weeks. We have a program for practicing keyboarding, and it tells how fast students type. How do you assign grades for the lessons. Students backspace and correct errors, so all that is recorded is words per minute.
A fast way to do it is to use Excel. Create a column of numbers from 30 to 0. In the next column type in 100% at the top. Select that column and the choose fill in and select series, descending. You will have to choose the step value.

Need to "export powerpoint package or "show" in order to put audio files onto a CD.
Audacity is another app that's good.

We have a program called our "Angel Program" We "adopt" a student who needs that extra help in getting organized, help with assignments, etc. In the past, we have had a form that has a checklist for marking progress as Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory, Improving and such. We have about 6 different areas with lists to check. We also do a comment area.
Is there a place - instead of wikis that we can all post to the same progress report that we create that we can do an "X" without messing up the format of the document? We also want it a secure place on the web. I've looked at a spreadsheet in google documents, but I'd like to lock certain cells down so teachers can't change certain places. All I see there is to lock the whole spreadsheet.
CTJSI wouldn't recommend this project. With an optical mouse, you don't need a mouse pad. Actually, I know if my optical mouse is on paper, it doesn't work as well as it does on a plain surface.
Hello friends. I am a Computer Science Teacher in a k-8 schooli n Ýstanbul, Turkey. I want to learn in which countries, how many Computer Science Lessons do you have for a spesific class in a week. Here in my school we have 2 hours for 4th, and 5th classes, but only one hour for 6th, 7th, 8th in a week. I hope you help me.
TrishYalcin, I have been teaching in computer labs for about 9 years altogether here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have had 2 hours before with 6-8 but its rare. If you are having trouble filling 2 hours for 4th & 5th grade use one hour for keyboarding. Students in 4th & 5th grade really do well with keyboarding and their grade will improve with their ability to keyboard quickly and efficiently. Many students are resistant to keyboarding but I always tell them it is like learning a sport. At first it is awkward and hard but the more you practice the easier it gets and you can always improve. I usually use project-based learning so it isn't how many lessons but parts of the project. Since computers is not a core subject, it is often interrupted so I have the steps to complete a project and I just progress on it as I can. I always have problems with student absences and gaps in projects, so I have independent activities that students who finish earlier can do while I catch up others who have fallen behind. I rarely wait to catch up until the end of the project. Depending on the project I may spend every 3rd class checking progress. Often the independent project is keyboarding, working on their web sites, or educational games. This seems to work well for middle school kids. One of my classes is working on a book report for PowerPoint and it is using advanced skills, so we have been working on it for more than 9 weeks. Every week they learn more skills and they are loving it.
