I'm trying to find a lesson plan I found on a South Dakota school website. It was done by middle schoolers, choosing who they would put on Mt. Rushmore. I can't remember the school. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Carrie 10th Grade: Write an essay of 1 to 3 pages on the topic: Mount Rushmore’s Famous Faces. Select and research four important or famous Americans to be carved on Mount Rushmore and explain why each should be chosen. The four selections may not include any ofthe present faces.

I found this by searching with .k12.sd.us and "Mt. Rushmore" ...See More

I am teaching a keyboarding/computer class for 6 weeks. We have a program for practicing keyboarding, and it tells how fast students type. How do you assign grades for the lessons. Students backspace and correct errors, so all that is recorded is words per minute.
Jean Bullock I never allowed them to backspace. I lowered the wpm minimum instead. Backspacing becomes a habit. You didn't mention how old the students are. Just decide how fast you think they ought to be. Set that as 100% and work down from there.

A fast way to do it is to use Excel. Create a column of numbers from 30 to 0. In the next column type in...See More

Trish I create lots of podcast on a free software called PhotoStory 3. It is a free download from Microsoft, extremely easy to use, and quick as a rabbit to learn. I love it and you can see samples of my students' work on my web site. As you will see some use pictures, some drew pictures in Paint or KidPix, and some I scanned in hand drawn picture. Im thinking about having my kindergarten students create their own mousepads as a Christmas project. They will design it on the computer, print it out and glue it to the mouse pad material. Has anyone done this type of project before or know where I can get easy instructions to do this? Is it as simple as it sounds? I've never done this before and ...See More
CTJS I wouldn't recommend this project. With an optical mouse, you don't need a mouse pad. Actually, I know if my optical mouse is on paper, it doesn't work as well as it does on a plain surface.

Trish Yalcin, I have been teaching in computer labs for about 9 years altogether here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have had 2 hours before with 6-8 but its rare. I usually get k-2 for 1/2 twice a week; 3-5 1/2- 1 hour a week; and middle school 1 hr per week (sometime only for 9 week per year). If you are having trouble filling 2 hours for 4th & 5th g...See More
