Hello, I came against the same problem with Word. Now I am going through the same with Excel. We have only just started but my creative juices are now flowing. Does anyone have any idea on how I can make it more interesting for them? I would really appreciate it.
I am new to the whole Mac universe ... and I updated my computer - but is taking days and the bar is still only a small fraction of the way across the page. When I click on the small red, yellow, and green circles in the upper left side of the download box, nothing happens. The computer will not turn off either. Is there a way to fix this?

It reminds you you are on battery power. if the battery dies during the update your laptop may be hosed that's why it "recommends" you be plugged in. Ignore computer manufacturer recommendations at your peril.

Does anyone have keyboarding lessons that have students practice typing and turn into a picture when they are finished? Way back before computers, we did typing lessons that turned into turkeys or Christmas trees when you pulled the paper from the typewriters. Do they have lessons like that for word processing?
PROBLE...See MoreHello, I teach seniors how to use computers. We have done lot of fun stuff! I teach Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes.
Often the Beginners get discouraged a few weeks into the course. I am going to create a sheet where they can check off what they have learned so far so they can SEE that they have made progress.
PROBLEM: I have seniors who will never get out of the Beginner class. I want to create a sheet for them, but I really don't know what to do. I want it to be motivating.
When you're investing in iPads, keep in mind that some online textbooks utilize Flash, which doesn't work on iPads. Make sure you choose textbooks that don't need Flash compatibility.
Also, it's important that you have a WiFi network that is sufficient enough to support a school full of students with iPads. If your internet keeps crashing because of user overload, online textbooks won't be of much use to you.
Keep those two things in mind and online textbooks can be a great resource for students!

I am preparing for the assessment center for CATE National Boards. Any specific thoughts to help me do well? Where would you recommend that I concentrate my studies?

I live in New Jersey and from what I understand there is not a computers praxis, and in the higher grades they look for a teacher with a business, economic or computer background.
My friend told me of a possible job opening in an elementary school for a computer teacher. I want to apply to this position, and what I am looking for is advice as to what to write on my cover letter to the school. I need to twist my art background, and use specific "buzz" words for computers.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated I really need a job, and if teaching computers will give me experience and get my foot in the door of a district I want to give it my best shot.
