I am hoping you will be able to help me. I am trying to find a decent laptop for my 2 children who are in their first year of high school. I am very lost on what to look for or buy. I did find a bundle at the local store, but am not sure it's worth the money. They are offering an Acer Apsire E15 Laptop, Windos 8.1, 15.6 LED backlight display; AMD (EZ) Quadcore Processor, 4 GB Memory, ! TB hardrive, wireless mouse, 1 yr McAfee, soft side case for $298. That is right in our price range (we are on a very tight budget) but I am concerned about the computer lasting the 4 years they are in school. I see them doing a lot of basic school work, esp. Essays and Thesis papers, not so much on gaming. Could you plz advise me? Any input at all would be appreciated and I won't hold u responsible! ;-) Thanks!
Sounds like a good buy to me. And, if there is a one year full warranty to go with it, you're covered for a year. However, there is no guarantee that a computer will last a certain number of years. Hopefully, yours will last for a long time. Various hardware and software problems can occur.
Since your kids will need software, I'd suggest downloading a free MS Office-like software, Open Office. Here's the link: https://www.openoffice.org

It sounds like a really good deal, and Acer is a pretty good brand. One thing I would suggest however, is to delete the "free trial" of mcafee. Its an antivirus program that typically slows your computer down and they will charge you to boot. Simply download Microsoft antivirus in place of it. It's free, and who to better police the attacks against their OS than Microsoft themselves. I've been using it for years. Doesn't slow the computer down and does a pretty good job of catching viruses.
Other schools have various portable electronic devices provided in the classrooms. It is up to the teacher to ensure that the electronic devices are correctly obtained, carried, and returned to the storage location. Here are excellent tips for you, and to share with your entire campus.

I would like to use google forms to replace some of my workbook pages that our school mandates that we use. Is there an easy way to do this without having to type every question? The correcting is killing me! I know how to use forms and flubaroo.
Does anyone use an online keyboarding softwar? Would you be willing to share your methods for grading Keyboarding classes. Do you grade each unit? How do you assess technique? I keep changing my method every year and just can't seem to come up with method with which I am satisfied.
