For a classroom teacher (K-6th.)which would be better: an interactive whiteboard or a document camera/projector?

After seeing an IWB in use, to me it is a 'fancy' chalkboard. Am I wrong? Seems as if a teacher would use the document camera/projector more. Would someone consider it a 'fancy' overhead? I don't as you can do more (like dissecting) and show the whole class at the same time. Right? Also, does the document camera hook into a computer? If so, is a projector necessary if the computer is hooked up to a television?

Tech Tchr The document camera and IWB serve two different purposes. The document camera is bsaically for teacher use, while the IWB is designed for student interactivity. Marilyn Lange I used a document camera in my classroom this year. My students used it as much as I did. Yes, it can be a very expensive overhead but it can be much more.
