Like any other educati...See MoreDistance learning is a viable option for many individuals who desire to get an education while working or at home. Acknowledging its popularity many colleges started distance learning program to attract students. I am sure many of you are part of this form of education...so I would like you to share your experiences.
Like any other educational programs, distance learning also comes with some pros and cons. In this form of education, students can complete their course work from home or anywhere, but they suffer lack of social interaction.. and many more. The success of this programme also depends on the quality of university offering it.
I have a friend that is interested in earning her Masters in either education and/or educational counseling.
Two questions:
1. What is an inexpensive program for her (cost is an issue).
2. Since she already has a BA in education, we know that she complete a "quicker" program to get her MA in Education. But what about Counseling? Does having her BA in Education put her on a faster track to getting a MA in Educational Counseling, or would it be the same as someone not already in the field (ie business person, etc.)?

But she may want to leave the classroom to pursue counseling in the school.

Has anyone used the continuing education VESI classes for salary bump? If so, can you describe the amount of work you had to put into each class and the turn around time for clock hour/transcript/salary bump?

A doctoral degree sounds tough. Good for you. I just saw this cool article on theapple.com about the differences in teachers salaries if you have a masters degree vs. a bachelor's. Its pretty big, so you are doing the right thing for your salary for sure. I put the link up.

I am interested in pursuing a doctorate. How do you find the time? Any suggestions or ideas? Are you pursuing your doctorate online? (distance learning)
The Deer Valley Rock Art Center in west Phoenix (Arizona) is looking for educators who would like to act as docents for the museum. The DVRAC is a small archaological museum that is visited weekly by school children on bus tours as well as the general public.
The DVRAC is the home of a major petroglyph rock site (rock images carved in stone by prehistoric people known as the Hohokam). Docents would tell the story of the museum and the peoples who produced rock art.
This is the perfect opportunity to continue as an educator if you are retired, or to give you more experience whether you are new to the profession or a veteran educator.
Docents are communicators, not lecturers, who focus on the main points of preservation and respect for petroglyphs.
We are also looking for ways to let other teachers in the area know about this opportunity.
If you would like to know more about volunteering as a docent for the Deer Valley Rock Art Center of have a suggestion for outreach venues, please call or e-mail Casandra Hernandez at 623-582-9007 and Casandra.[email removed]] .
Thank you for any consideration you might give this message. I hope that many of you take advantage of this worthwhile and educational volunteer opportunity. We need you!
I am very interested thes programs to get my initial teaching certification while getting a master's degree in education. Can anybody recommend a good program?
On 1/...See MoreHi is at Saint Leo University. They have a MAT program completely online with one week residency at the main campus in either June or July. I just started and I love. They are state approved as well.
I heard some people talking about Liberty University's program as well. They said that it's good.
Hope this helps.
