HELP! lol Any suggestions for studying for the NBPTS assessment? I am not sure what to study and how. If anyone knows of any books, websites, articles that would be great!
I have a booth that comes with a conference registration for the ASCA Conference that begins June 25. Since I won't be able to attend, so I need someone to put fliers on my table.
I hope you find some way to get your fliers on you table at the ASCA Conference.
I do also hope all is well in your life and that your inability to attend is not due to a tragedy of some sort.
However, I offer two suggestions if you get no takers from here:
(1) Contact the General Manager at the conference site ...
(2) Contact Dr. Kwok-Sze Richard Wong our ASCA Executive Director whom I have no doubts will ensure your initial investment in securing a table will not go to waste.
You have contributed greatly to my development and I wish I was attending and I definitely would have helped you out.
Regards, Brian.
Please any School Counselor reading this should offer Leah some help.
Thank you so much for your comments and concern. I love hearing positive feedback!
The reason I can't attend the conference is that I have pneumonia. I just contacted ASCA directly and the conference coordinators have kindly volunteered to place my fliers in my booth. They were great about it!

I've applied for counseling positions in Texas. In preparation for the interview, I've been told to research the school's data. What exactly do I need to know regarding the school's data?

I took and passed the exam last year. I did not find the school portion difficult. I found the other counseling portion of the exam much more difficult, and would suggest really looking over old counseling materials from grad school to prepare. There are sample questions on the exam website and a test guide that where very helpful-definitely look at these so you know the areas where you need to study. There are study guides available at a cost that you can get online, but none of them are endorsed by the NBCC.
I don't know that the school or that the staff is new changes the picture much if at all. There can be children who cry when their mother leaves - even if they've been to preschool. Some kids hate school all of their schoollife even if they stop crying about it after a while.
How is he after his mother leaves? What do you observe as you observe him in the classroom? Does he mope about part of the day or all day or does he seem to adjust to her leaving and enjoy his day at school?
What's the manner of his teacher? Some teachers can make you feel like crying...
We can't tease children or adults out of real sorrow - he's not sniffling, you say he's clinging to his mother. He's either sad or afraid. For some kids, it's just as their mother leaves and for others it's the actual school day and what it asks of them that makes them sad all day.
I'd say you need to tell us more about this child and how he is during the day if you really want to solve the problem and not just smooth it over.
