A coworker has been chiding me for years about being a "slave to the classics." I'm not opposed to modern YA literature; I'm just not familiar with any of it. This year I have determined to give it a go. I've seen how students in other classes respond (positively) to this material. *I teach low level readers this year.

My coworker has suggested: Walk Two Moons Speak Fallen Angels

I'm looking for other ideas and feedback on these novels. Much appreciated.

Mark I haven't read Speak, but I do have students who love Ender's Game. I would never have thought that they would have enjoyed science fiction. You may also wish to try Hunger Games and any of the Maximum Ride novels.
