I teach a course called Literature and Philosophy. It is a 9 week course for upper classman and to put it briefly, the course objectives are to read literature and discuss the different philosophical truths that are imparted via the text. Or, to learn philosophy through the pieces. I have structured the course into a few different parts: What is Philosophy, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Ethics, and the meaning of life. I'm thinking of adding aesthetics this upcoming year.

My request is this: I am looking for literature (poems, short stories preferably) relating to philosophy: epistemology, metaphysics, ethics and aesthetics...something 10th-12th grade students can appreciate. Unfortuntately, much of the material out there is too dense for the students. Some of titles I currently use are "A Good Man is Hard to Find," "the Lottery," "The Sunset Limited," "the Bet."
