I am looking for 5 host families to host pairs of Japanese high school girls in late March for 4 nights. Prefer host families not more than 4 hours drive from Los Angeles International airport. Can pay $260/family and offer free hosting at our school in Japan. Thank you.
I teach ESL in a public school and my kids will be taking the ACCESS test soon. I would like to prepare them with some writing prompts but I can only find one sample from WIDA. Does anyone have samples or mock samples they can share?
massESLHi Christine, my students took ACCESS last year, for the first time. The ACCESS writing prompts I believe would change each year. The ACCESs is similar to the W-APT entrance test, which is free online at the WIDA site. Check that out. Also, if your district uses the WIDA MODEL for an entrance test, that could help you. The ACCESs is similar to the W-APT entrance test, which is free online at the WIDA site. Check that out. Also, if your district uses the WIDA MODEL for an entrance test, that could help you. For your grade 1-2, tier B and C students, you would want them to be able to write a number of sentences based on 5-6 picture prompts/picture story. I think Tier A students, it's more just writing names of objects or phrases. For your grade 3-5 students I think make sure they can write a cohesive paragraph. I don't know about middle and high school. The scorers are not expecting perfection - they say they are OK with the types of errors you'd find on first draft writing. there is a workbook series that prepares students for ACCESS. but forget the name of it. I am in need of a lesson plan for the 3 branches of government for high school students. I need idea for pre- assessment and mid-unit assessment using manipulatives (pics, etc.)and incorporating reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. This is for ESL 10th-11th grades students. Thanks!
(Example) Dear ... I wanted to be President. I have to be born in the US. etc. I can veto laws. etc.
Judicial: mock trial (3 Little Pigs vs. the Big Bad Wolf, the wolf is sued for damages. Goldilocks -- breaking and entering...)
Congressional: School House Rock, "I'm just a Bill". Similar to the executive branch and executive v. legislative duties.
The last might be a bit trickier.
