A nervous 1st year ESL teacher

Hello!

This upcoming school year will be my first year as an ESL teacher. Although I have 3 years experience as a Spanish teacher, I am super nervous and don't know what to expect.

With that said does anyone have any tips for the first week of school? Any good books I can read to get me started? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

eve vicini Hello! This is my second year as an Esl teacher (in France). I ve read "the first day of school", there were good tips. What level are you teaching? Though I'm a newbie, I could give you some of my lesson plans if you need help.

Lori Thank you soooooo much for the advice!!! It kinda sucks because my district has yet to tell me where I am teaching. The only thing I know is I'm teaching elementary grades.

teacher Keys to the Classroom may be a helpful book for you. It includes some beginning of the year activities in Spanish and English.
