The Netherlands Centennial Carillon hasn't chimed the
hours or played regular concerts since 2003, but will ding-
dong merrily on high again starting tomorrow afternoon, at
the corner of Government and Belleville streets.

Forty years after its unveiling, the reactivated
instrument will again play the Westminster chimes every
hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the summer, and 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. in winter -- thanks to a local donor who gave
$55,000 for the modernization project.

"The carillon is the sound part of this whole complex and
we've really missed that important aspect," said Royal
B.C. Museum CEO Pauline Rafferty, who said the donor's
name will be announced at the unveiling.

This province's Dutch community raised the original money
to build the carillon in honour of Canada's 100th
birthday, and she added: "We're so pleased that some of
