This a suggestion - I am wondering what others would think about it. I feel it would be really beneficial for a "specials" chatboard. Specials teachers have unique problems and situations and although I have searched the internet, I cannot find anything - no groups, no advice on management etc.

Has any retired teacher that is involved in the TRS Lawsuit heard anything about what the settlement (those who retired from 1998-2004)amount may be or what the increase in future pension payments may be?
Thanks Cher - it was fun putting together the tips for that project. It forced me to see each of those areas of the site through the eyes of someone new to Teachers.Net.
Thanks for staying with Teachers.Net over these years, without the Teachers.Net community, this project would be a handful of lonely pages.
Also, is there a way to "log in" or save one's information so that one doesn't have to supply a name EVERY TIME one posts. And can one edit one's posts ? I saw nothing indicating "edit", so I had to post another message. I post on other, non-education discussion boards where you log in, do not need to supply your name for each post (because you are logged in), and can edit posts instead of having to reply to your own post in order to add something.
Just some suggestions, things that might make the site more user-friendly for TPTB.
You're doing everything right, and the people emailing unsubscribe requests to the ring are doing everything wrong.
I wish I could tell you they'll stop doing it, but I've written the list three times with explicit instructions to NOT EMAIL THE RING with their unsubscribe requests.
Every time I do, it generates three more "remove me" requests.
Hang in there, the directions are very clear and teachers are smart, so they should catch on.
If you want to improve things, try emailing the ring with appropriate posts, like introducing yourself, or asking a question, or passing along a tip, anecdote, or observation.
lease check out the Texas Teacher Board. 7/14 - Listen, Eye Roll......... Not sure who is posting that either. I don't think it is one of the ones caught up in the discussion, though, or else someone has a computer that changes #'s.

I did not have parents to help me. after meeting every requirement except one (my loans were not all paid off by 1998. Are they crazy I just started working and never missed a student loan payment and they denied me! I work with the most challeging populations and I still owe 12,000 and have been paying this bloody loan since 1996. I feel the feds favor the young student with help from their parents. who can pay a loan back that fast? I agree this others who stated that a petition and some letters need to be written to push the date back. I do not feel i will ever be able to pay this back. Now I have a mortage, family and other expenses not to mention i paid for two Master's Degrees and a Post Professional Dip in administration all out of pocket since 98 because I refused to take out anymore loans. something needs to be done about this because it is totally unfair to us hard- work self-sufficient teachers who where not given a free ride.
The administrators.net chatboard is not working. When you click "respond to this post" you get a blank screen, and posts on new threads do not appear. Nothing new has posted since Saturday morning.
We're in the process of moving this entire website to a new server. Administrators.Net is the guinea pig. We'll have the kinks worked out shortly, and then move the rest of Teachers.Net over. Stay tuned for some nice improvements once we are moved to the new machine.
