IMO, the placement of the librarians chatboard in the English center indicates a very outdated, stereotypical view of the role of the school librarian. The typical focus of today's librarian (library media specialist) is interdisciplinary. It's not just books and literature; there is an emphasis on technology integration.
I wonder if the (mis)placement contributes to the lack of activity on the board--indicated by the presence of posts dated 1999 still on the board. Obviously, school LMS's have not embraced the forum. My suggestion is that the forum be moved to the "Interest Groups" category.
I'd love to see a new chatboard for word study -- as in the books Words Their Way, Word Journeys, etc. They are somewhat different from Pat Cunningham's word study.
Seriously, check out how many questions on the NJ chatboard there are about alternate route... it's almost every other question!!!
AR people need somewhere to come together and discuss their experiences etc... AR is very confusing to many people (and misunderstood by many as well) and I think by starting up a chatboard everyone can see what AR is all about!!!
Hi, I do agree that AR people need somewhere to come together and discuss their experiences, but then the issue is mostly related to the state of New Jersey. It's not a nationwide problem. and moreover it is about a kind of a training program like many others all over the U.S. Therefore instead of having a chatboard for it,it would be better to get it listed as a subcategory under New Jersey's Teacher board and use it to provide maximum and latest information related to the program to the people. and moreover AR training is a recent concept and no body knows whether it would last long .

An alternate route chatboard is an excellent idea. It is really difficult to navigate the "system". I've gotten so much support and information from others who are going the Alternate Route. It has helped me immensely.

I'm trying to find the Tammy Dryden whose father is/was Harold David Dryden, though most people called him David or Dave. We are related, though we've never met. Her paternal grandfather, Harold Leander Dryden, is my father. Please help us to connect.
Bilingual ed is huge-- why don't we have a chatboard for it? There is bilingual ed being taught in big cities like New York, Florida, and all across the Southwest (Texas, NM, Arizona, CA).

You really seem to know everything. I think I've had about enough of the rudeness from the International School of Perth. You really reflect poorly on your fellow Aussies, who for the most part are quite wonderful people.
