Bud Light posted this and I find it in poor taste and offensive: ==========================================
I had a situation similar to this (well, let's say hundreds of situations!). I have had two 300 pound mothers duke it out in the parking lot, two Hispanic parents duke it out, my favorite was when the mother of one of our students came to school to "rip out the hair" of me and his teacher. Well, she also worked at a local strip joint and she wore her ""uniform"" ;-) to the school. Well, she started shouting at the teacher in the parking lot. (This was after school) and she came up and grabbed the teacher by the hair. Well, next thing you know they are punching and slapping and hitting each other and my teacher got the best of her and ripped off her top so there she was her boobs exposed to the world. The lady was arrested for indecent exposure and physical assault and battery. Ah! Memories!
You are entitled to your own opinion but I did not find it offensive and Bud didnt mean for it to sound offensive believe me this man has paid his dues in public education and this was his way of trying to shed some levity to the chat board really though get real things like this happen it is reality!!! Trust me if you don't lighten up education is not the business for you!!!

I'd like to suggest that the topic of 'Differentiation' be added as a new message board. I'm still struggling with ways to implement this in the classroom.

Yvonne,
Check out Susan Winebrenner's book, Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom. I found her book invaluable at my beginning stages of differentiation. Please email me if you'd like to know more about things I've done.

The Events mailings arrive on the day of the event as a last minute reminder of the evening's chat.

Thank you to T.Net for giving families with those serving in the military a chance to communicate with each other through the Meeting Room. I do not have anyone serving, but if I did, I would appreciate having a place to just to chat with those in the same situation.
Would you be interested in a forum (such as a chatboard here at Teachers.Net) for discussing standards-based teaching? There are a lot of strategies and issues that are unique to standards-based instruction, and which can be applied no matter which set of standards (national standards or state-specific standards of any state) are being used. I've noticed an increasing number of discussions about topics such as how to design standards- based lessons, how to use standards in the classroom, standards-based assessment, etc. - it seems like we could benefit from a chatboard focused on Standards-Based Instruction now that standards are becoming increasingly emphasized in most schools. Would others be interested?

I'm not a teacher but I have an interest in national standards of education and was wondering if I could elaborate? Robert L

am I missing that here or is there a place for that? I know many of us don't have the budget for these opportunities but I still love dreaming and checking them out.
I really like discussing student discipline(not physical punishment) with other certified teachers. The Discipline board should be retitled "Corporal Punishment" if people keep on going on about punishing students physically.
Please do what you can to ensure we certified teachers can share ideas on classroom discipline.
