To the offical powers that be,
I am one of the art people from the "Arts and Crafts "
board. When I started posting on Teach. Net several years
ago this one board I found to be very helpful and
professional. In the last couple of years as I have gotten
to know some of the people posting they are impressive.
A question came up the other day as to the use
of "crafts"in the title. Years ago when I started teaching
art and then helped to jury shows the "crafts" were not
considered part of the fine art catagory. It was a very
bitter debate. Today that meaning of craft has changed
again.Today crafts has taken on the meaning of the tongue
depresser picture frames with glued on plastic spider. The
true crafts, the weaving, ceramic, glass blowing, metal
work has taken it's place in the fine arts catagory.
