I cannot believe there is a Daycare Board, and we still
have no Parapro Board!!!! We are required to be "Highly
Qualified". Many of the daycare workers I know (with a
few exceptions) are high school students!!

I agree. I asked for it a long time ago. In NY, the Dept of
Higher Ed is transitioning from parapros to Teaching
Assistants (although many districts are not, because they'd
have to pay more money) ...

It would certainly help to have THAT added for commiseration
and support and info.

In our district the terms Teaching Assistant and Para-
professional are used interchangably. (and up until fairly
recently, Teacher's Aide) What are the distinctions between
the two (T/A vs. Parapro) in your district?

Feel free to e-mail me.
