Interactive Notebooks are fantastic for all subject areas. I have been using them for about 4 years now. I just created a new FB page for I.N's, please check it out.
Interested teacherDelilah - Do you have any other page besides facebook where I could see it? I don't use facebook.

I know that students who don't know their times tables in 5th grade often struggle with math, so if you can teach them their times tables, that helps them not make so many 5th grade math errors. If you want to sign up for her webinar, go to this website:
I’m an elementary teacher who has developed a fun but effective math/music program for students grades 3-6. The audio and video series are aligned to State and Common Core Standards and really motivates students to learn math and equips them with the foundation to excel on Standardized TESTS.

Judy you don't sound very warm. But you do sound silly. I don't have lamps or curtains or pillows, but I do know that these items and learning are not mutually exclusive.
Did you find a class to write to? Our class would be interested. We our from jacksonville NC. I have two 5th grage Language Arts Classes. One has 26, the other 27.
There are 3 separate tests, but th...See MoreI have a Spelling List for each week with three levels: Approaching, On-Level, and Beyond. Included with the Spelling list are vocabulary words from the story.
I came up with an idea for testing all of the 3 levels of students at the same time, and grading the tests in class at the same time.
There are 3 separate tests, but they are multiple choice tests for the spelling words, and I made all three tests have the same multiple choice answer from 1-25 for the first test. That means you can grade all of the tests in class, and it will not matter if a student is on a different level than his neighbor, because question #1 will be answer A this week for all 3 tests.
For vocabulary, I listed the words, and require the students to write the word next to the correct definition. I did this for Open Court, and you might have used my tests that I shared for 5th grade.
5th grade teachers - I need your collaboration Email me so I can send you the spelling list and first set of tests for Goin' Someplace Special. I can supply you with the spelling words for the three levels, and the completed vocabulary section for the tests, and a template so you can make your own tests.
What I would appreciate you doing is to type up the sentences for the three tests. Remember: the answers for all three tests have to be in the same order, and every week we should change the order a bit. If I get 30 5th grade teachers each volunteering for making a spelling set of tests for a different story, we can have all of the tests made for 5th grade! I found some spelling ideas from page D in my TE. There is a Reproducible every week that has varied spellings for the words. For the ones I could not find, I made up some spellings based on sounding out the words.
We all share around 90% of the same stories - Treasures CA, Texas, Florida, and elsewhere. They just are in a different order.
Email me directly if you want to join this collaborative effort. You may know me from my Open Court sharing, my DonorsChoose webinar, my Postcard Exchange, ProTeacher sharing, or my collaboration with Laura Candler and other teachers. Let us join together and make a great set of tests that we can all share and use!
Let me know your top 3 choices of stories, and I will send you a template with the spelling and vocabulary lists and vocabulary tests all done. When you have finished making your set of three tests, please email me your 3 tests and answer guide, and I will post the final tests and answer guides for all of us to share!
