With all the last day of school hoopla, I forgot to send a letter regarding student homework to a parent. The parent did not tell me she wanted it, rather the student said that she did. I would have to write the truth, which is that overall his work was OK, but last week, he did not complete a few assignments. I feel bad because normally this stuff does not slip by me, but I am in charge of a huge trip and was planning during our party (plus there was a student issue to deal with, clean up, etc.) I worry that this may cause more trouble when we return. I just worry that she needed it for the holidays (such as gifts for good behavior, etc., but again she never told me or my partner herself (and she just talked to my partner teacher on Wed.)

Dan Don't worry about it.

This is how I handle situations like this.... I put responsibility on the student. I'd just tell him not to leave until you have the note from me. If they remember they need the note, they'll see you before the end of the school day.

Happy Holidays!

ny/5 Don't do anything until you hear from the parent. If the student's Christmas presents were dependent on whether or not he did his or her homework, you're better off not sending the letter anyway.
