I teach 5th grade math at a private school for low-income girls from the city. I have the hardest time with getting them up to speed in the the basic math facts and it really isn't what I need to be doing in my 5th grade curriculum.

Does anyone have any methods that have worked besides just pounding the facts into their heads to help me get passed this hurdle so they can learn what they're actually supposed to be learning in the 5th grade?

MichelleAZ Great program here. I have used this full class and with my special ed kids. I teach by math fact strategy x2, x5, DOUBLES, x9 and the 10 Memorized facts. I use this book for the 10 memorized facts. Works like a charm.
