free start the morning tool

I used to write stuff on the board to start the day, like so many others. I just was surfing through scholastic.com and found scholastic.com/teachers/daily-starter/teacher

that has a bit of LA, math, and daily thought for every day of the year, by grade level. No more writing for me.

leveled English/Grammar textbooks???

While I do teach many lessons and then have students apply it to there own writing several of us of concluded that we have students that would also benefit from some structured practice that our "old" English/Grammar textbooks provided. Anyone have a book you would suggest we should check out? Thanks.

I am looking for any good titles of African American Biographies. I teach 4th grade and our next book report is to be about a Famous African American. Do you know of a good series or specific title?

Ipad in Classroom

Do you think that Ipad's are good technological tools to integrate into your lessons in the classroom, or is it more of a distraction for the students because it is more of like a toy or something to play with to them?

kteachIL My school bought 20. With teh computer tech, I downloaded the apps from our reading series of our leveled readers I have the kids read the stories. I put them on shelves and leveled them. It has been successful so far.
