I am a teacher of an extended French class. It is a mix of grades 5 and 6 (ages 10 - 12). I am looking for another class that would like to starting writing back and forth. It can be both ways in French or my class can write in French to the best of their ability and then we can receive responses in English for French schools. Either way let me know if you are interested!
I have a wonderful student who struggles with subject pronouns and verbs and we're now in French 2. I've tried everything I know. Does anyone have any wonderful ideas to share?
I am teaching FSL in a junior high and have not used french in a long time. It is difficult for me to speak french all of the time . I am not aware of every single classroom command and direction in french. When I do use french to tell students what I want them to do, they look at me like hun?
I am wondering how much french should be used in the classroom. I understand that it is beneficial to learning french if a student is immersed but it is also difficult to create a bond with students when they do not understand what you are saying. Please let me know what you think and any advice you have regarding how to integrate and learn more french as a teacher who has not used it is a while.
Post common sayings around the room--you and your students can refer to them. Directions--also try showing them--e.g. open the book and you open the book, etc. Say it in French and English or use English as needed. As you use French, you will start feeling more comfortable and will use it more in the classroom.
Do you have a projector? You can prepare a list before class to use to ask questions---or put a list of words on the board and ask questions based on your word list.
Start each class asking questions--all the basics--If you haven't taught these yet, use topics you have covered--day, date, weather, name, birthdate, age, from where, nationality, Who is ? Description of a person, Likes, etc? Students will be excited that they can have a conversation in French
I teach French for high school. I would be interested in more details about the exchange program. I was thinking to start one myself, but it is not easy.
Thank you,

I think all of these except for the G (God...See MoreHelp, please! I am teaching French 3 this year, after 12 years of doing nothing higher that French 1. Anyway, we're about to start the subjunctive. With my Spanish 3s I used the wedding mnemonic device: Wishing/wanting Emotion Doubt Denial / Negation Impersonal expressions Need God / giving advice
I think all of these except for the G (God) are okay. Can I use this with French? Has anyone ever? I just want to double check. I've been away from this for soooo long. Thank you!
Thanks for responding to my post. If I'm not mistaken, it was a French song from France because all of the voices on the tape came from France, and the Parisian accent was used througout the series.
The song was a bouncy song played on the accordion. It had that great typical French sound to it.
