I am studying for the French Praxis test to become a French teacher. Can anybody tell me which books i should read to study the French culture and history? I am not talking about the praxis exam test books. Merçi d'avance. Geena.
There's a lot of listening and writing from what I'm told.
The Praxis book also tell what areas in French history/culture you should look for. Could be worth buying because they also have sample tests.

I'm going to be taking the French MTELs soon and I'm wondering if anyone has any good studyguides or good information I could use to help me study for it. There isn't much online and no one seems to offer any prep courses for the French test. Thanks!
Middlebury is the only program I have found, but I just don't think it will work for me. It's a great program, but very expensive and very far from where I live. I was just wondering if anyone else had some suggestions. Thanks for your help.
I didn't see your response. I thought you might be the person on this chatboard that might know the most about the program. Thanks for any suggestions.
For you and other persons in your situation, I suggest that you look over and review the scoring criteria used by AP French to score the AP French language and culture exams. Based on 5 points, the top indicators of a '5' will be tell you what examiners are looking for in A+ papers. You may use the link and the info you want is on page 99.
Next, as I tell my students of AP French, a flawless essay written on the French III level will only earn a score of 3/5 on the AP exam. The differences between intermediate and advanced language is found in the content and the complex grammar structures that use relative pronouns. If your writing is missing any of the forms: auquel, celui + (...), ce qui, ce dont, lequel, that will be an indicator of an intermediate level. In addition to the relative pronouns, the use of the object pronoun, "en" is very abundant in French and is often omitted by learners of the language. For that matter, "y" can be used more and a preceding antecedent is not necessary; the inferred or implied antecedent is sufficient as long as the verb structure takes + à or + de. Finally, does your writing use subjunctive conjugations? Do you use any of the following: pour que, afin que, au moins que, quoique + subjunctive ?
I am sure that you not allowed to share the topics of CST, but for helping, it would be useful to know if the essay requires the use of "je" or if the essay's topic is on a third person topic. The use of subject pronouns "on" and "ils" should be distinguished. "Ils" has an antecedent whereas "on" does not.
Good luck to all, and read newspapers in French. If you are like I am, my writing tends to imitate what U read.

Hello! Would anyone be interested in having Discovering French-Bleu 2001 (Euro Ed) textbooks and supplemental materials? Alternatively, if you know of a place that would like them, please do let me know. I'm trying to get rid of them.
I'm not sure if you received my reply. If not, I apologize. I'd "like" to get some sort of money for them, but I'd be happy with someone paying for shipping + a donation. If you're interested, please let me know what, if anything, you'd like to pay for them.
Best, Christina

I apologize for the delayed response. I forgot to have Teacher.net e-mail me whenever anyone responded to a post that I made.
Yes, they would be used for classes that I teach. Basically, we already have a textbook, but I've been extremely disappointed with it. Therefore, I'm looking for something basic and fundamental for the students that can serve as a launch pad and allow me to supplement where needed.
I have approximately 90 students in French 1. However, I might be interested in purchasing just enough for a classroom set (approx. 30- 35 books).
I would need to pay out of pocket. How much were you thinking per book? Also, are you located in the Midwest anywhere? Thank you!
David

And if you have attended one of our courses a few years ago, why don’t you come back for some new adventures in France or Spain ?!...
Many thanks for your continued support.

Immersion Courses in France and Spain for Primary and Secondary School Teachers
Easter 2013 Supported by the European Union COMENIUS/GRUNDTVIG Programme
Le Français en Ecosse has been a Comenius course provider since 2002. Our team of experienced and fully qualified native teachers are committed to promoting French and Spanish language and culture throughout Europe. This is our 11th year working under the Comenius/Grundtvig programme and our expertise in delivering Training Courses for teachers is now recognised by all European National Agencies. Our courses are fun and motivating, and take place in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Lyon, and in Malaga, the capital city of the Costa del Sol in Andalucía.
Participants are encouraged to speak the target language as much as possible in social situations and on the cultural excursions. Different levels are catered for as the class is often broken into smaller groups. The methodology sessions focus on techniques which enable teachers to involve all pupils in learning through the medium of French/Spanish. A cross-curricular approach is favoured and all activities are transferable to the teaching of other Modern Foreign Languages.
Successful applicants receive support from the European Union Comenius/Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Programme available through the British Council / Leargas. The grant of up to €2,500 fully covers the course fee, subsistence and accommodation, as well as travel expenses.
