The vast majority of AP World language students are in their 4th year of language instruction. A combined 4th year class of AP students and 4th year non-AP students is ok. A mix of year-3 students with the 4th students will be very frustrating.
Teachers like me who have students two years in a row, year 4 & 5/6, do use a Year A and Year B curriculum. This is fully accepted by the College Board.
While you are thinking about turning your Year-3 class into a pre-AP course, go ahead and do the same for French I and II. They are your future AP students.
Bien à vous,
James
