Hallo I have misplaced the fun little book from teachers discovery: german christmas activity fun book. It had some fun puzzles etc in it. I called the company but they have discontinued it. They have an updated Christmas book-- I have that one also but it is not as fun or just doesn't work as well with what I have planned. If anyone out there has it and wants to sell it or can direct me to somewhere to find it. Ich werde sehr dankbar! The TD people said they don't even have any old copies anywhere. I just bought it about 3 years ago. Schade! Thanks for any help. Frohe Weihnacht! Annie B.
FREE printable 2008 calendar for classroom use This month we discovered a new web-based resource for kids, parents and teachers - TIMTIM.com offers more than two thousand cartoon style drawings FREE for teachers, and a FREE printable Monday - Sunday 2008 calendar using 12 languages (including German) and cultural themes.
Check it out in the January 2008 Teachers.Net Gazette (linked below).
I have a friend who is a Spanish teacher and gives her students "Culture Notes" each day. Towards the end of the grading period, she gives the students an open-notes quiz/test about the culture information that she conveyed to them. Does anyone have any idea of a website or source that I could go to to find some German culture notes?

Becky, I guess you are going to be a German teacher since you posted on this chatboard. I use to teach German when my husband and I were stationed in Germany. I now just sub for different foreign languages at schools here in Manhattan, KS. They best advice I can give you about teaching is to stay positive. Your first years as a teacher are going to be tough, but rewarding. Teaching a foreign language is tough so really know your subject and understand that German can be intimidating to a lot of students. Keep things as fun as possible and you will do a great job.
I have been a German teacher for 8 years. It has been one of the best decisions of my life! I am now waiting to interview for German positions in New York as we have relocated to my home state. I can honestly say that I miss teaching German on a daily basis! There is so much you can do to enhance students' worldviews as well as their German (as well as English!) grammar each and every day. Hang in there and make sure when you get to a position you build up the German program!!
You should all really check this site out for class resources. It has blogger, forums which are organized into categories and a chat room. It is pretty new, I think it started up a few weeks ago.

I really like the fact that everything is organized and easy to find. What do you think?
Has anyone else checked out the new website called World Language Mentor? I was on the forums this morning and once I registered, I was able to download some real good handouts. The site is [link removed].
Has anyone here taken the Content Test for German for New York State Teaching Certification? I have Illinois certification, but need to take the NYS tests as we have relocated. I am nervous for this test and would appreciate any hints or feedback! Vielen Dank!
Hi - I live in southern Maine, and am looking for German programs for my daughter. We tried to find a teacher for her a couple of years ago, but not much luck. she is 17, and is doing an exchange year right now in Germany. (She LOVES it!) She really wants to learn PROPER German grammar when she gets home, but I'm having a hard time finding someone to "tutor" her. Can't even find Adult Ed classes -- only at a local language school, but it just didn't fit her needs. The local university (35 miles away) offers German; however, the classes are during the day, and she will be finishing high school during the daytime hours. Thanks!
