I am posting in an effor...See MoreI am an exchange coordinator looking for a school to host a group from Mannheim Germany this October for 17 days.
I have been working with schools organizing short term group visits and travel for many years, and would be happy to put you in touch with any of these schools for references if you would like.
I am posting in an effort to find a school that would be interested in my organizing a homestay school visit for your school to welcome a group from Mannheim Germany this coming October. It is a new school to us, and would be here for 17 days.
Their schedule would include days at school and days on trips, all of which will be organized by me. I take care of all logistics from finding host families, to organizing schedule, transportation, supervision and all aspects of having a group visit your school. Your role can be as involved or removed as you may prefer.
I am available to speak with you by phone at anytime - 978-835-0133; or email: [email removed].
If anyone has any information about job openings for German teachers in the greater Philadelphia area (or otherwise), please contact me at [email removed].

Other than those awarded by GAPP, are there any grants available to help support exchange groups? My school will be hosting in the spring of 2010 and I need to generate some serious funds in the next 10 months or so.
ArielleRDJThere are grants out there for all sorts of reasons imaginable. I guarantee that if you simply Google international exchange grants, you'll find a wealth of information! My apologies if you had already tried this and were unsuccessful. Just a suggestion!

I am new in the foreign language teaching field, and am looking for different ways to incorporate technology into my German Language Classroom at the High School level. Unfortunately, we only have one computer in the classroom, which makes it difficult to use the internet for a lot of our projects. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I have to give a presentation to other teachers on using songs/music in the classroom (grammar music, pop songs) to help kids learn new grammar and vocabulary.
I have 2 websites I know: [link removed]
Are there any other websites or artists you would recommend me to serve as references for teachers to use if they are looking for using a foreign language song in the classroom?
Thanks!!!
Zachary (Spanish teacher) provided me with this VERY helpful website for anyone to teaches French but also Spanish:

LOL...and I have memories of some of us locking arms and singing it in the hallways after we'd learned it in our German class years ago. One of those melodies you can't get out of your head.
We learned a whole lot of drinking songs, too, but this one was much prettier.
WIEN, DU STADT MEINER TRÄUME (Vienna, City Of My Dreams) (Rudolf Sieczynski)
Refrain:
I am actually not a teacher of German, but rather a student. I presume this really isn't a board for students, but couldn't find any where there was any dialogue between students and teachers. If this terrible breach in the site policy, I hope you will be able keep yourself together and overlook the thread.
:)
Naja, I am currently in the 10th grade and enrolled in German III (in the U.S, if levels are different elsewhere). Next year, I plan on skipping level IV and going straight to V and taking the AP exam at the end of that year.
My German teacher approves of this, but isn't taking any initiative in showing me materials I will need to learn to make up what I'll miss in the year.
I, and my teacher as well, are confident in my abilities (that I can do fine in German V), but I need the actual stuff covered in standard IV curriculum to test out so as to please the school.
Basically, I am asking you fine people if there are any resources you know of that I can use. Textbooks, software, whatever. I'm pretty good at learning on my own, and I'll be spending a few weeks in Germany with GAPP so that'll help, so I think I can handle it, I just need a book or even a course outline that tells me what I must learn.
I don't know how standardized curriculum is, but any help would be nice.
Nicole H.Hey, I'm a student too. I'm also skipping a year, only I am skipping second year. I learn pretty quickly when I get started, but I have no idea where to start!! I found this site when I was searching for hints. Any suggestions on strategies to get me started??
I have tons of ideas but I am always looking for new things to add. Any suggestions? If your suggestion is language/culture specific that is fine, I would still love to hear about it.
Some of the things I already have (just to give you an idea where I am going with this...) labels for the classroom themed parties throughout the year labeled calendars bilingual flashcards culture tip of the day recess games inside recess activities coloring sheets dot-to-dots flags to color bilingual books etc etc etc
