Glad you are enjoying DOWNTON ABBEY. Remind me about the situation with your son? I think ours is on his way home. The flat mate is a little over sensitive, is dealing with a breaking apart marriage and hardly does anything in the flat. There has been a big leak from the flat above, which has damaged the ceilings and electrics and is still not completely sorted. They have no heating or hot water or lights! Their agent is useless. The agent (a different one) for upstairs is even more useless. We keep picking son up and bringing him home for some warmth and good food. He is also very unhappy in his job and I am afraid of him breaking down again. Do we ever get to stop worrying? (((((((((((mmp)))))))))))))
My son is going to complete his Engineering Degree this semester. He lives in another province and is staying with me until sometimes in April.
May things go well for you and Hubby if your son moves back home. As long as we are alive I believe we will be concerned about our children and their choices.
Today at 5 pm we were 20 degrees warmer than yesterday at the same time.
Really? Is that because you watch it online? I hardly ever do, so haven't had that issue before. We have a site here called downdetevtor...going to heck it out. Hope you an watch what you want soon.
1. The retired board goes down frequently, this board only stops when/if the entire t.net site is down which is rare. 2. The posting on GA is very light and retired postings are light to medium. 3. The poster's interests of the two boards are similar and the age difference is not that far apart.
It would be great to have a merged board. Bob, please consider this. thanks, ron/nj
Ron, thanks for your patience. I have some changes in the works that should shake things up a bit. Let's see how that goes, and then see if other tweaks are indicated for this forum....
Here's something from me: Our youngest has just moved out. LT and I are Darby and Joan (alone). Number 3 has taken himself to a flat in a nearby town, sharing with a colleague from work. Fortunately, he resisted pressure from his girlfriend to move with her. This way he gets to live a more independent life for a while and learn how to manage things. It's a nice enough flat and is on his bus route to work. We can keep enough in touch to be aware if things begin to go wrong again - those of you who have been here as long as me know about his mental health issues - but be distant enough for him to really feel and be independent. Being just us in the house does feel a little odd.
I look forward to hearing something from some of you :-)
My hubby retired this fall so now we are working on getting our ...See MoreI don't know if this is "interesting" but I retired in June. I took a giant leap of faith and I love it! I don't know how I got everything done when I worked and my stress level has gone from a 9 to a 1. For me, this was the best decision I have made in a long time.
My hubby retired this fall so now we are working on getting our house ready to sell and to start over in a place more suitable for us. We have been here for 11 years and have no ties to the area so, off we go. Our kids (no grandkids) live on either coast so we can chose where we settle and know that they are only an airplane ride away.
Hoping for health and happiness for all my fellow Golden Apples.
We saw one of my sons in August and my oldest grand was with him. He turns 15 on Jan 3, just passed his driver's test.
Two of my husband's children visited, each bringing a spouse he never met before. His son lives in N California, his daughter in Dallas Tx.
We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary in November. I keep busy caring for him and 5 pests/pets...my hobbies are reading my online kindle, light fluffy mysteries, coloring books for grown ups, and making "pocket letters" to swap.
I hope to read some more "about me" posts. Happy New Year chat buds !!
Novel, casual teaching (Aus) = supply tea...See More > What is casual teaching? I have considered supply > teaching again > but around here you end up in the most challenging > schools, have > no relationship with the students and it is exhausting. > Good luck with all your plans. > >
jmeNovel, I am sorry you're dealing with all this. I haven't had to deal with accusations, but I do understand how you feel (I think) and would retire right now if I could afford to. We don't teach any longer, we need to document. I miss the way I used to feel about teaching.
