Did you ever see the pbs series "Chef"? A character on that show - an alcoholic chef - was played by Ian McNeice, the actor who plays Bert on Doc Martin. I read that he was also in Doctor Who but I never could get interested in that show.
You may be aware that Martin Clunes is married to "Doc Martin"'s producer and that they both own the show or are part owners.
I was completely unaware of the worldwide popularity of the show. It just showed up one night on my local pbs station.
My local station also started showing the detective series "Scott and Bailey" again. I think one of the actresses on it does an outstanding job. I watched "Call the Midwife" and "Father Brown" lately...initially because the settings, cars, clothing, are pretty authentic and nostalgic. But the best authentic setting, set decor, fashion, cars, etc. that I've seen is in the pbs series, "Hercule Poirot" and that's another character with a brilliant mind, like Martin, who I am in love with, LOL.

I enjoyed the newest episode last Sunday, did you? I never tire of it, as preposterous as some of the story line is, LOL. At first I did not understand why the Dowager Countess did not want Isobel to marry that rich guy until someone said that the marriage would make Isobel someone of powerful standing, and I assume the Countess did not want Isobel to have more power and standing and influence than the Countess.
I like both the men who are pursuing Mary, do you?
Here, there was a show after DA about the manners of the Edwardians. The host is a consultant on DA. It was very interesting. He explained why the Edwardians had to adhere to such rigid manners, conventions and moral standards.
That sounds wonderful. I love the crib and tree most of all the Christmas decorations. Our own one we bought many years ago. All the figures look down slightly, presumably towards the baby's cradle, but because we set it up on the fire sill, we can all clearly see the figures' faces. Could have been designed for us! It is a great pleasure that you have such a precious piece of family history. All the blessings of 2015to you and your family.

AnniseMay I join in wishing everyone here a very merry and peaceful Christmas. We are having weird weather here in Ontario, Canada. Snow is all gone, it is 10C and very foggy and rainy. Rudolph will have his job cut out tonight.
Novel *waving*Blessings to all here this Christmas. We had the most amazing meal cooked by our daughters - bliss. Visitors on their way with dogs and children in tow. It'll be chaotic...but fun.

It's been a long, long term. So many people are in bad moods or feeling very low. The real flu has been doing the rounds, decimating staff. The norovirus has cut a scythe through the students. No details offered or needed there - yuk! The Christmas holiday is going to be very welcome indeed. Bless all of you xx

We have a holiday advertisement that plays every summer with that song, and it features teachers running out of school and jumping into a pool. Ah, happy thought.

l She does not seem to like the Mountain Cur pup Mr. VET surprised me with, but she has been very gracious and never even growled at Brin.
Lady is still the number one dog(ex. she always get her meals and treats first). She is very spoiled---sort if a diva.
Brin has never been an "only", but has turned out to be a great natural hunting dog, which we had not expected.
Recently Lady, ate a bite of her "tooth cleaning" treat and put the rest of her treat down for late, then we noticed the look on her face. She looked so "devastated and surprised". Brin had taken the rest of her treat.
We couldn't help laughing and Lady seems to have learned her lesson.

Yep, simply love it. Great brain candy.
