Dear Health Instructors:
I just wanted to let you know about a non-profit
organization called Eating Disorders: S.O.S. We send
guest speakers into middle schools and high schools across
the country to discuss the dangers of eating disorders
with young people. This peer mentoring program promotes
healthy body image and self-esteem, while trying to
prevent eating disorders. As you know, eating disorders
are a problem many young people face, and our guest
speaker program has been very well received, since we send
trained speakers with first-hand experience into the
classrooms to share their personal stories regarding these
disorders. This format reaches students better than any
textbook, it seems. For more information, please visit
