If you want to know "what's going on" at my school you have to listen to the gossip, often from the students. Students are more than willing to tell you everything that is going on (or they think is going on) if you let them.
Sure, some of it might be because they hang out in the office instead of making copies or grading papers. But I'm willing to be the bulk of their "knowledge" comes from students.
