Ever notice how students will load and play games as soon
as your back is turned?
I have.
I have fought it for years, and finally "gave up".
Now, I let them load and play for a period of time, then
when I tell them it's time to get back on task, they don't
argue of fuss.
They simply get on task and do the day's assignment.
Wow!
BUT - I feel guilty.
I, as a teacher, feel as though I am cheating them, and
the school board I am employed by.
What to do, what to do.
Do I nuckle under, and keep up the good fight, or do I
use "games" as a motivational tool to assist the student
in gaining an education?
Any suggestions, recommendations, chastisements?

games is always helpful to get back on task..
my teacher sometimes goes off topic for a while
before returning back to the subject at hand..

Hi Ed,
We have the same problem over here in England. Basically, our
school bars lots of sites students are not allowed onto to
start with, a great help. However, if in an IT suite, the
students are allowed onto a game site when they have finished
the task in hand - good incentive to get their work done. ...See More
