Re: whole-group math counting activities

    I used white cotton balls to represent snowballs. We added
    and subtracted using stories about the snowballs. As small
    group work, I gave each group a snowman outline to fill in
    with cotton balls. The students had to cover the snowman and
    then count the cotton balls needed to cover him. Class really
    enjoyed these activities. Materials were inexpensive and prep
    work was easy.
