I teach a 2nd grade boy who last year was placed on medication for ADHD. His parents are divorced now and mom was pressured by dad to take him off medication. Now as a 2nd grader he exhibits high energy, crawling around on the floor, cannot focus long, etc. I have offered peer tutoring to him and choices, but he cannot control his impulses. How do I convince his dad that this is unfair to him and that he would do well with the medication. Mom is willing to put him back on meds behind dad's back. He takes a lot of my attention away from my other students. How can I convince dad that meds may be the right route to take?
